The Gaming Policy Committee Of Nevada Assemble Meeting For Online Poker

Mar 29, 2023 // Categories: Latest Gambling & Casino News.

A meeting was held on Wednesday by the Gaming Policy Committee of the state of Nevada in which the main subject was online poker. The subject hasn’t been spoken of in over a decade and Gov. Brian Sandoval brought it up in this weeks meeting. He says that the time has come to to put together an intrastate online poker system and regulate it. Besides, Nevada has already received over 20 license applications and are still awaiting an answer.

The Steps That Will Be Taken

Once the licenses will be given out to the fortunate companies, they will then have to prove themselves as legit and reliable to ensure a honest gaming experience and no underage gambling activity. Mark Lipparelli, the Gaming Control Board chairman said that it will be brought into consideration as of the month of May or June. He then specifically stated that no timeline is given as to when the first hand of poker will be dealt. Below is an interview with Mr. Lipparelli:

As of now until end of august, the Gaming Committee will be regularly meeting every 4 to 6 weeks with the sole goal of coming forth with a bill that will be drafted into Nevada’s 2023 legislative session.

A Unanimous Wish

It seems to be a unanimous liking from the side of the Committee to see the Congress regulate online poker in the state of Nevada. They think it is a great new way of bringing good income to the state by imposing taxes. However, the CEO of MGM Resorts, Jim Murren, stated that people shouldn’t get their hopes up because the federal government is “known to be slow” in his actions and might not get anything done at all.
