The Basic Rules Of American Roulette

The game of Roulette has been around for quite some time and now and relatively easy to play. Their is a maximum of 6 players at a Roulette table and each player gets a distinct chip color so the dealer can tell which player placed the winning bet. There are a few different ways to place bets in American Roulette. Every bet has a different distribution and different set of numbers. You can see all the different types of distribution in the “Winning Roulette Table” below.

The Rules Of American Roulette

Straight Up: A player can place a bet on any desired number, which includes the “0″ and “00″, by placing it in the center of the number. This type of wager is the one with the highest payout. See table below.

Split Bet: A player can place a bet on two different numbers with one wager. The player will simply place the chip on the line in between the two numbers. See the chart below to see what payouts are afforded to this type of bet.

Street Bet: A street bet is when a player places a bet on 3 consecutive numbers. The player will place his wager on the boundary line of the table at the end of the corresponding row. See table below to see what payouts are afforded to this bet.

Corner Bet: Roulette players can place bets on four numbers by placing the wager in the corner where all four numbers meet. See the table below to see what payouts are afforded to these types of bets.

Five Bet: A player can place a bet on the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3. This bet is achieved by placing the wager on the boundary line between 0 and where the first row intersects. The payout for this kind of bey is of 6 to 1.

Line Bet: This type of bet is when players place 2 street bets, meaning placing wagers on 6 different numbers in 2 rows of 3 numbers. The player simply places his wager on the boundary line where the line dividing the two rows intersects.

Column Bet: At a Roulette table, there are 3 boxes labeled “2 to 1″ at the bottom of each column. By placing your wager in 1 of those boxes, you are betting on all the numbers in that column. If any of the number is hit, you win with a payout of 2 to 1. If the number “0″ and “00″ come up the bet is lost.

Dozen Bet: A player can place a bet on a group of 12 numbers by placing his wager on the boxes marked with “1st 12″, “2nd 12″, “3rd 12″. If one of those 12 numbers is hit you win. The payout for these winnings is of 2 to 1. Falling on “0″ and “00″ will make you lose your wager.

Even/Odd, Low/High, or Red/Black Bets: A player can place bets in one of the boxes that are located along the side of the Roulette table that cover half of all the numbers on the table. Every box covers 18 numbers and all winnings are even money, “0″ and “00″ are both losing numbers.

Minimum Table Bet: Just like almost every other table games, their is a minimum required bet to place to meet the minimum table bet.

Winning Number: There’s a winning roulette number display at every roulette table which displays the previous 13 spin results.

  1. I would add house edge advantage for all roulette games:

    1. House Edge for American Roulette (the one described with two 0`s) is 5.26%

    2. House Edge for European Roulette (it has only one 0 instead of two 0`s) is 2.7%

***** Also note that at some casinos you may find a so named French Roulette which as European Roulette has only one zero, but there will be applied a rule called “La partage“ which consist in losing only half of a certain bet made if the ball lands on zero !

So, my advice is to never play American Roulette! Play only European Roulette and French Roulette if you can to find it. (but always remember to look at the rules which it carry on)
